The Start Of The Brick...

I was told many times that I would like the brick that Ryan and Gary had picked out. The final color that was chosen was neither Sycamore nor Mt.Woodson. It ended up being what was supposed to be Mt. Woodson. However, they can’t call it that or sell it as that because it was fired wrong and was supposedly darker than what it is suppose to be. Ryan said that when they put both bricks side by side it was hard to tell which was which because there wasn’t even enough difference in the color to really notice. I think it was a great choice because not only do I LOVE it, but also because they can’t sell it as the exact color to be called Mt.Woodson, we received eight cents off a brick. To us every penny counts and in the end it all adds up! To go with the brick, they chose a Chocolate colored mortar. It was the color on display with the brick and Ryan really liked it. I admit, I need to trust Ryan’s idea of what he thinks looks good a bit more, instead of questioning him so much.

Here is proof that pictures on the Internet look nothing like what stuff does in real life.
Mt. Woodson                                                                       Sycamore

Now, I understand the mortar is different and the brick was fired a bit too long, but still!

The guys are doing such a great job! I just love the design that they put into their work. You can’t really tell, but the vertical bricks are actually twisted just a bit to give it more dimension.

While the masons were working outside Ryan decided to finish up a few little details inside with the framing. We are moving right along!
